1) The girl ran to the gym, pumped some iron, then swam a mile, but she forgot she was supposed to meet her friends for lunch, so she went to dinner in her suit.

While traveling to Mars is a dream of many, astronauts and people a like, an acutal mission to Mars would be a one way, solo trip. The American dream to travel to unexplored places will have to come at the price of people's lives, but just how valuable is someones life? There are plenty of people, however, who are linning up for a chance to go to Mars, even though they know they most likely will not be comeing back.

The space race in the late 1960's was a race entirely composed of men trying to one up one another, but had women stepped in the moon and space may not have been such a large goal. The money pumped into the moon projects could have been put into research for alternative fuel sources or trying to find ways to keep Earth alive. However, with all of the problems here on earth it's not necessarily a wasted effort to try and find other places to go to keep the human race alive and thriving for many generations to come.

The Chinese, who are new to space, are moving their space program along at a steady, sustainable pace. Their new space adventure is tied very closely with nation pride and defense, and China's desire to become a world power. However, with China's current pace they may be the only people left in space by the time they finish their own space station.
